What is the difference between vinyl windows?
We are always asked, "What is the difference between your vinyl windows and doors as opposed to big box stores?".
Vinyl Windows have come a long way!
Vinyl windows are no longer the same vinyl from 15-20 years ago. Most companies offer very competitive products. With today's market, you no longer need to worry as much about the quality of a vinyl window. As long as you can see a sample, you will be able to assess if it's a good quality or not. Very few products in today's market are made of sub par materials. The thing we tell our clients is to look for a company that offers them exactly what they're looking for at a fair price. Whether it's a basic energy efficient window or a premium window with all the bells and whistles. Most people are only looking to upgrade their windows for energy efficiency as well as comfort. If that's the case then you'll be perfectly well off with a basic window. A premium window doesn't guarantee more energy efficiency. A window with double pane LowE 3 glass should be more than enough unless you live in an area that experiences drastic changes in weather throughout the day like the desert or mountains. If that's the case then upgrading to a triple pane window with LowE3 should suffice. If you have a 2 story house with vertical opening windows, and want panels you can remove and clean easily then you're most likely better off with double hung tilt-in windows. Since you require that specific type of window you're looking for a premium window because your basic windows won't carry that feature. At Safeguard Windows and Doors we won't try to sell you on anything, our job is to get you exactly what you want and help guide you as best we can so that you can get the most out of your windows!
Why you should look beyond the brand of windows?
The majority of vinyl window manufacturers have to put their windows through a battery of tests done by AAMA and NFRC which is required by the state of California. Passing these tests doesn't equate to quality, but it is a solid reference point. Our materials are all acquired by a company that has done that testing to all of their products and have passed AAMA structural standards with a gold label, and NFRC with a U-factor of .29 or below and SHGC of .23 or below. Most companies will offer you a Lifetime Warranty, but few will follow through with fixing the mistakes. As a family owned and operated company, our word is our bond. We take any issues with our products as a personal issue because they reflect directly on us, so we always work with our clients for the best possible outcome.
